Explorer Backpacks

Looking for something to do in the outdoors? Why not try one of our explorer backpacks at Stafford Castle! We also have a neurodivergent explorer bag – feel free to specify which one you would like to take out by talking to the staff at the desk.

Ask at the Visitor Centre to borrow one of our free activity backpacks containing lots of things to help you explore the castle grounds. You’ll even get your own puppet guide – one of our dragons – Norman or Bailey!

Please visit during Stafford Castle’s opening times:

Stafford Castle Visitor Centre and Keep Summer Hours (April through October): 11.00am to 4.00pm, Wednesday through Sunday

Stafford Castle Visitor Centre and Keep Winter Hours (November Through March): 11.00am to 4.00pm, Saturday and Sunday

You can collect one of our bags from Stafford Castle Visitor Centre which is fully wheelchair accessible with no steps needed for access. The front doors can be opened wide if required to enter the building. The toilets are in a nearby building which features an accessible toilet. Exploring the woodland with these bags will take you around the circular woodland walk at Stafford Castle. This is wheelchair accessible as the path does not feature any steps for the route the walk will take, however the path can be muddy depending on time of year and weather conditions. Historic Stafford staff are always present to assist you if required.
