Izaak Walton’s Cottage Opening Day

Izaak Walton’s Cottage re-opens for the summer season! We have plenty to see on our open day:

Come and join us on Sunday 3rd May 12pm – 5pm and learn about fishing, fly-tying, angling history and Izaak Walton himself.

• The Trent Valley Fly Tyers will be joining us with all of their knowledge and kindly doing some fly-tying demonstrations.
• Members of the Saracens Head Angling Group will also be here with various fishing rods to have a look at and discuss.
• There will be a talk on medieval angling at 1.30pm.
• We even have a friendly casting competition for you to have a go at! See if you can beat the pros or simply watch and enjoy the contest.
• Rumour is that there will be an Izaak Walton like character for you to talk to who can detail what life was like all those years ago at this tranquil Cottage.
• There will be five new, small labels added to the Cottage for opening this year, showcasing little snippets into some of Izaak Walton’s famous autobiographies.
• We will have cake and hot drinks for sale.
• Parking is free and plentiful as we will be using the field opposite Izaak Walton’s Cottage.

Open every Sunday from 3rd May 2026 to 1st September 2026, 1pm to 5pm (asides from this Opening Day event which will have extended hours of 12pm to 5pm).
