The ‘Twenties Takeover’ exhibition offers a glimpse into different aspects of the decade, including everyday items like clothing, art and homeware.

Items on display include a Georgette evening dress, purchased by a member of Eccleshall’s Hudson family, that captures the ornate and iconic styles that swept the 1920s. There are also numerous medicines of the time unopened for a century and a stunning selection of ladies’ shoes.

While the trauma of the war cast a long shadow over the decade, the 1920s saw Britain rebuild in an era of great change. Through the exhibition, visitors can explore this era of challenge, renewal and transformation.

Exhibition by the Staffordshire History Centre.

The exhibition will be running during usual Ancient High House opening hours, Tuesday through Saturday 10am to 4pm.

Please be aware that this event is held across the three floors of the Ancient High House, up several flights of stairs. There are steps to enter into the building and then 17 more wide steps with a handrail between each floor. For toilets, the womens is on the first floor and the mens is on the second. Historic Stafford staff are always present to assist you if required.
